English civil war and has barely been out of print in one form or another
ever since. In it Hobbes puts forward his case for a powerful sovereign
or ‘Leviathan’ to uphold the rule of law and prevent the descent of
society into anarchy. Leviathan poses questions that remain relevant to
governments today. Illustrated with thirteen black and white plates.
